As an agency of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the primary purpose of the Kentucky Board of Auctioneers is to protect the public. This is accomplished through examination, licensure, and regulation of auctioneers, apprentice auctioneers, limited livestock auctioneers and auction house operators.
This board is a self-supporting agency, funded by fees paid by Kentucky-licensed auctioneers and auction house operators. The Kentucky Board of Auctioneers does not receive any general fund tax monies.
Notice to Auctioneers
The Kentucky Board of Auctioneers recently became aware of misinformation being spread regarding Indiana reciprocal licensing requirements. Kentucky and Indiana are parties to a reciprocal licensing agreement, under which Kentucky residents who are reciprocally licensed in Indiana are not required to take additional continuing education hours, including the Indiana mandatory continuing education, so long as the Kentucky licensee is current with Kentucky CORE and Kentucky continuing education requirements. The purpose of this notice is to allay fears for those impacted licensees regarding Indiana continuing education requirements. If you are impacted by the Kentucky-Indiana reciprocal licensing agreement, and if you continue to hear that your Kentucky CORE and continuing education hours will not satisfy Indiana reciprocal licensing requirements, please contact the Indiana Auctioneer Commission.
